The East Coast
You know, since first stepped foot on the St. Mike’s grounds I have known this is where i need to be. Everything about this place has been scary and different than anything I have ever experienced. People are what keep me feeling like a visitor though. I can’t explain it. Its not a feeling of un-belonging or anything to that extent. Hell, I’ve made great friends, fallen in and out of love, and in the process made a fool of myself more times than I wish to remember. But the cultural gap between the west and east coast has been made apparent to me over the last semester. I find my self talking about things no one else understands and my friends making references I am unaware of there meanings. But these are just not popular culture references, no the thousands of miles that divide us have made our views of politics, media, and what our goals in life are. Sometimes it does not even seem like we live in the same country. In the end though my only hope is that all of us will take the time to at least try to understand each other.
